About Joey

A young boy with dark hair smiling and showing missing front teeth in a black and white photo.
When music came on and anyone in the room wasn’t dancing — Joey would grab your finger and make sure that you did.
— Mike Gomoll, Founder Joey's Song

Joey Gomoll was born in Madison, Wisconsin. He lived with Dravet Syndrome, a rare and devastating form of childhood epilepsy, from the earliest days of his life. He passed away in 2010, just before his fifth birthday.

His father, Michael Gomoll, built something in his memory. What began as a small benefit concert in Madison has grown into a 15-year movement that has raised over $2 million for epilepsy research and brought Rock and Roll Hall of Famers to a stage in Wisconsin.

That’s Joey's Song. That’s Freezing Man.
